Why Are Republicans So Hateful?

I’ve tried very hard to hold my tongue and keep my peace but the Republican party and those who support their twisted ideologies have really gone too far. To blatantly take funds from unemployed Americans and give it to people who are not hurting financially is one of the most insensitive things one human being can do to another. It say’s that we live in a time where selfishness, and greed, can go unchecked and unchallenged. What good can come from not extending the unemployment benefits of millions of struggling families? The meager funds help keep lights on, and food on tables and are a lifeline in these times of great uncertainty. Where is the compassion in these people’s hearts? Who are they trying to hurt, and why are they trying so hard to hurt them? You would think they have some personal grudge against the unemployed for not doing better in a system that seems to do everything it can to keep them from doing better. I wish someone ( preferably a Republican) would give me some insight about what really motivates them? It looks and feels like they are motivated by hate. They had complete control of the country for 8 miserable years, destroyed our economy, started wars that have costed the lives of thousands of innocent young men and women, spread fear and suspicion around the world, and now at a time of year when we are supposed to love each other more, and share God’s blessings with those who are struggling, THEY CUT UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS!!

What a pack  of insensitive heartless bastards!! Merry Chris Read more »

    The Blink Of An Eye

Today, March 3, 2010, is my son Alex’s 20th birthday. I’m shocked and amazed at quickly those years shot by. It  feels like just yesterday, he was just a few hours old and I dreamed of him growing into a good man, faithful friend, and loving son. I thanked God for blessing me with a child free of birth defects or other infirmity, and began a journey that I would not trade for any amount of money in the world. We lived in Oakland then, on the top of a hill called Adams Point in a brown shingle mansion. Life was simple and easy because I was still relatively new to California and hadn’t accumulated the massive amount of stuff that time tends to produce. I drove a small used Mazda and worked in the city ( bay area residents refer to San Francisco as the city) for AT&T. We were still reeling from the Loma Prieta earthquake that had occurred a year earlier and felt like we were starting fresh with a brand new family of our own. Within a few weeks we moved to Alameda, a small island city located next to Oakland, and into our wonderful house on the beach.

I would come to love the house in Alameda. It was one of those low to the ground ranch type beach homes with a midsized backyard, massive living area that had glass sliding doors opening into the yard, as did the master bedroom. It was the first time I had to keep up a water-bed It felt like our little kingdom, and we knew Read more »

    TWO WOLVES

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

“One is Evil -  It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

“The other is Good -  It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

This was sent to me by a friend who always seems to know when I need to be reminded that no matter how much I feed the ” Good “, someone else is just as busy feeding the ” Bad “. I hope you spend time feeding the one that uplifts your friends and family, and not the one which only serves to discourage and disappoint.
