Venice – Italy

Venice is a beautiful port of call that involves tons of walking, due to its waterways and bridges. It was easy to see why the locals are so fit and trim. There are no cars there and the streets are extremely narrow. I enjoyed it because of its unique place on water. The waterways were fun to ride on and exploring the city was easy by foot. Some of the great landmarks to visit are, Ca’Rezzonico Museum, Doge’s Palace, and St. Mark’s Square. You can enjoy a day, or nighttime , gondola ride and share a special romantic moment. Rides in the day are more informative because you can actually see the palaces as you tour the city. There are two islands in the northern lagoon next to Venice, Murano and Burano, famous for their glass blowing and lace making. Make sure to visit them if you get an opportunity. The island of Torcello provides a more peaceful getaway for those who want to take in the old grandeur of the ” Mother of Venice” the name given it when it was the most prosperous of the early lagoon communities.St. George’s island provides great architecture and will allow you to see the most magnificent views of Venice in the lagoon. Enjoy a scenic drive allow the river Brenta to see the gardens of Villa Pisani and then on to the art city of Padua. The Jewish Ghetto and city of Verona also make nice spots to visit.

As I’m sure you can see one day in Venice is not enough. We were there for two days and didn’t scratch the surface of the possible things to do.  so I know we’ll be returning soon. Please enjoy the gallery below. Next port of call Taormina.
