Barcelona – Spain
When you get to the port in Barcelona there is a statue of Christopher Columbus that greets you and points toward the sea that you just came from. I don’t know if he’s suggesting that we go back from whence we came , or that there’s a new world out there somewhere and he intends to find it. He was a bold visionary, unafraid of the challenges that waited for him as he set out in quest of that new world. We entered Barcelona as bold explorers without a real plan, just a wish to experience a new place from a spontaneous perspective. What we found was a city that made us feel welcomed and cared for. We felt very comfortable in this wonderful vacation spot, to the point of even feeling like it would be a nice place to live in. It’s probably because of the artistic character of the place and the Bus Turistic. The temperatures were very much like home ( the bay area), so it felt familiar.
While there we were able to visit the wonderful works of Pablo Picasso and famous architect Antonio Gaudi. We will definitely be heading back to this place and plan to take some time getting to know the people and town. Check out the gallery and feel free to leave comments. We went on to Livorno and Pisa after being kept at sea by unexpected storms so we’ll have to get back to Monaco on another trip.
